Clive Palmer loses 49kg, becomes unlikely weight loss motivator

The businessman and former politician has lost a staggering 49kg since April last year, slimming down from a dangerously heavy 153kg to a much more svelte 104kg.

And now Palmer has taken to Facebook and Twitter to share his weight loss journey, hoping to inspire thousands of ordinary Aussies to do the same.

“I’ve now lost 49kg and [am currently] at 104kg,” Palmer wrote in a Facebook status that’s pulled more than 9,000 likes. “Please support me to get through the 100kg barrier.”

It’s not the first time Palmer has checked in with his followers on his journey – he regularly updates his twitter feed with what he’s eating for lunch, and even shares his experiences with those days we all have where you don’t lose a single kilo.

 

The trick to the former pollie’s weight loss? A mix of Lite n’ Easy home delivered meals and fasting.

“For those asking how I have done it, it has been discipline, and Lite n’ Easy,” Palmer told his followers on Facebook.

“Really great to hear there is a lot of support. I hope my efforts will set an example for others to follow that things that might seem unachievable at one time in life, can be achieved with some strong discipline and commitment.”

It appears that Palmer’s inspirational updates are rubbing off too, with many of his supporters tying on the joggers to try and replicate the mining magnate’s body transformation.

“Clive you have inspired me to a run a 10km marathon! Thank you so much!” wrote one user.

 

“Well done Mr Palmer, keep up the awesome work. I’m going to join you on the journey, my goal weight is 92kg as well and I’m currently at 130kg. You are an inspiration to me,” wrote another.

The cynical among us may suspect this to be some kind of Lite ‘n Easy publicity stunt, but Palmer is adamant that it’s simply the way he did it, and it’s not necessary to lose the weight he has.

 

In fact, scrolling through his Facebook page reveals not only a man on a mission to better health, but some surprisingly sensible health advice too.

“With hard work and determination you can do it, it doesn’t take Lite ‘n easy,” Palmer advised one follower.

“Just limit the size of your portions and a little bit of exercise, and it will start shedding off you.”

Palmer’s goal is to reach a very slim 92kg, and if his social updates are anything to go by, it’s only a matter of time.
