There is something about a beautiful manicure that just looks and feel elegant, but the cost of salon manicures can really add up over the course of a year! If you want to save time and money on manicures, you will need our essential steps for a DIY manicure at home_ for a fraction of the cost!
What You Will Need:
- Cotton balls
- Nail polish remover
- Nail clippers
- Cuticle pusher
- Cuticle remover
- Nail file
- Warm water
- Face wash
- A scrub
- Nail polish
- Moisturising lotion
- Soft towel and damp cloth
How To do:
1. Remove Old Nail Polish
Remove your old nail polish by moistening a cotton ball with nail polish remover. Gently move from the base of the nail to the tip. After this, wash your hands and pat dry with a soft towel.
2. Shape Your Nails
Use nail clippers to trim your nails. Clip nails, if necessary, then gently file them into shape. Don’t cut them too short, you should be able to see at least a little of the white tip still, all the way across.
3. Soak your nails
Place some warm water in a tub, make sure it is at a comfortable temperature. Add a cleanser to the water. Your face cleanser will work perfectly in this case because adding anything soapy will dry the skin of your hands. The ideal soaking time is about three minutes. After soaking pat dry with a soft towel.
Once you have soaked your hands, apply a gentle scrub and scrub your hands. Use a brush to clean your nails. Scrubbing will successfully remove the dead skin. Wash your hands with clean water and then pat them dry.
5. prepare Your Cuticles
Using the cuticle pusher, gently push the cuticle back away from the nail, but don’t push it too far because it can demage the nail growth or fray the cuticle. While you clean your cuticles don’t forget to gently remove the hangnails by the sides of your nails.
6. Moisturise your hands
Apply a moisturising hand lotion and massage your hands till the cream is completely absorbed. If you don’t have a moisturise for hands, you can use your favourite oil instead.
7. Remove cream
Take a cotton ball moistened with nail polish remover and remove the cream from your nails, before you apply nail polish.
8. Apply Base Coat
Before applying the nail colour, start with a base coat. Apply to all nails and let it dry.
9. Apply Nail Colour
Pick a nail polish that you really like. Begin painting your nails using a thin coat. Keep a paper towel and cotton ball dipped in remover handy, to fix any mistakes.
10. Apply Second Coat
After a gap of 10 minutes, apply a second coat and let it dry for few minutes.
11. Top Coat
The best way to make your manicure long lasting is by touching up your nails with the top coat. This will also enhance the appearance of your nails.
