Woman arrested after four female US tourists attacked with acid in Marseille…
Four female US tourists have been attacked with acid in Marseille’s main train station. The women, all in their 20s, were sprayed with hydrochloric acid, which hit two of them in the face and the other two hospitalised with shock.
The attack took place at Saint-Charles station shortly after 11am on Sunday morning. Local media reported that it was carried out by a woman believed to be unknown to the holidaymakers, who were about to travel together to Paris.
The two women sprayed with acid in their faces are aged 20 and 21.
Reports say the acid was in a spray canister of a kind generally used for cleaning.
The attack is not thought to be terror-related.
A 41-year-old woman was arrested and detained by the police.
The spokeswoman did not release any further details about the victims or the suspect.
There was no immediate information on where in the US the tourists were from.
